Pictures taken: October 2018
Place: Iceland, Thingvellir, Strokkur, Gullfoss
Camera used: Nikon F4, different lenses, 19 years old Red Bird film
Iceland is about highly active volcanoes, geysers, waterfalls and landscapes as wide as the horizon. I wanted to capture the elements, the water above and liquids and other substances coming from deep within the earth, magma, ice and water. If riverbeds, geothermal areas and glaciers being earth’s veins, what’s flowing inside them being their blood. Blood, lava, magma, veins – my association with those terms is the colour red.
Before travelling to Iceland I experimented with the Redscale Film Red Bird by Rollei. After a number of test shots I finally figured the most appropriate exposure for this project.
There are 12 pictures in the series. They are 60×90 cm in size. Right now I’m researching the ideal image carrier.
